After School Program at Boston’s Nazarro Center
PAAE has enjoyed an ongoing collaboration with the Nazarro Community Center in their shared goal of advancing the role of the arts in the development and education of Boston’s youth.
As part of this partnership, PAAE sponsors an annual Art Contest for the center’s youth program. Children between the ages of six and fourteen submit their drawings to be evaluated by a panel of PAAE board members and NCC staff. The contestants are divided into three different age groups and are given a theme such as “How Can I Give Back To My Community?”. Three winners plus honorable mentions are chosen and given prizes.
“Peace In The Family” Day: Boston Park, Chelsea
In a partnership with the Chelsea Domestic Violence Task Force, Public Action for Arts and Education helped sponsor the annual “Peace In The Family” event at Boston Park in Chelsea. Approximately 200 children submitted drawings and the winners of each of the three age categories had their work displayed at local area banks.
The free event brought families together and helped the CDVTF realize its goal of giving families access to the tools necessary to provide a safe and healthy environment and promote the importance of a violence-free community.
